Marquette University competes in one of the best athletic conferences in the nation, the BIG EAST. With tougher competition comes a greater challenge to attract the caliber of student-athletes who will be champions in and out of the classroom. Marquette’s ability to recruit such champions is highly dependent upon the availability of significant and sustainable athletic scholarship resources.
When you support the Blue & Gold Athletic Scholarship Fund, you provide partial to full athletic scholarships for Marquette’s student-athletes. The NCAA permits Marquette to offer the equivalent of 110 full athletic scholarships. Thus far, Marquette has not reached its potential for providing the maximum aid to our student-athletes. For the 2009-2010 academic year, we offered the equivalent of 92 scholarships.
YOU can help close the gap and be a champion for Marquette student-athletes by supporting the Blue & Gold Athletic Scholarship Fund. Marquette student-athletes have proven to be champions, as well.
Champions in Competition
- The Marquette men’s basketball team had earned five straight NCAA Tournament appearances.
- Marquette’s first BIG EAST championship was the 2008 golf title.
- The women’s basketball team won the 2008 National Invitational Tournament.
- The women’s soccer team has made eight NCAA appearances in its fourteen year history.
Champions in the Classroom
- Marquette student-athletes boast a 93% graduation rate.
- Marquette has produced 36 Academic All-Americans
- Since joining the BIG EAST in 2005, more than half of Marquette student-athletes earned Big East All-Academic Team honors.
- Average GPA for our student-athletes last semester was 3.11.
Champions in Service
- Each Marquette team is involved in its own community service project.
- Men’s basketball provides the opportunity for special needs children to experience a game and meet and interact with the team through Buzz’s Bunch..
- Women’s basketball hosts a "Pink Out" in support of breast cancer awareness.
- Women’s soccer participated in "Kicks Against Cancer" to raise money for breast cancer awareness and research.
- Many student-athletes assisted the 2010 Hunger Clean-Up, one of the nation’s largest one-day service projects.
