Highlights of the Week

• Special directions due to detour routes caused by closures of Northbound I-43/94 at Plankinton and the ramp from Eastbound I-94 to Northbound I-43 from 11 p.m. on Friday, May 16, until 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 17

• Bradley Center

• Traveling TO the Bradley Center:

  From the West:

  Start west of Milwaukee on I-94 heading east.  Continue onto I-794 eastbound.  Take the Civic Center, James Lovell exit ramp (exit 1A).  Continue onto James Lovell Street.  Turn right onto Wells Street. Turn left onto 4th Street.  Ends at 4th Street.

  From the North:

  Start north of Milwaukee on I-43 heading south.  Take the Highland Avenue exit ramp (exit 72C).  Turn left onto Highland to 6th Street.  Turn right onto 6th Street.  Turn left onto McKinley Avenue.  Turn right onto 4th Street. Ends at 4th Street.

  From the South:

  Start south of Milwaukee on I-94/I-43 heading north.  Take the Plankinton Avenue exit ramp (exit 73A).  Turn left onto Plankinton Avenue.  Turn left onto Kilbourn Avenue.  Turn right onto 4th Street.  Ends at State Street.

• Traveling FROM the Bradley Center:

  To the West:

  Start on 4th Street heading south. Turn right onto State Street. Turn left onto 6th Street. Turn right onto On-Ramp to Southbound I-43 at Kilbourn Avenue. Merge right onto Westbound I-94.

  To the North:

  Start on 4th Street heading north. Turn left onto McKinley Avenue. Turn right onto I-43 northbound on ramp.  Merge onto I-43 northbound.

  To the South:

  Start on 4th Street heading south. Turn left onto McKinley Avenue. Turn left onto I-43southbound on ramp.  Merge onto I-43 southbound.  Merge onto I-94/I-43 southbound.

• Traveling TO the U.S. Cellular Arena:

  From the West:

  Start west of Milwaukee on I-94 heading east.  Continue onto I-794 eastbound. Take the Civic Center, James Lovell exit ramp (exit 1A).  Continue onto James Lovell Street.  Turn right onto Wells Street.  Turn left onto 6th Street.  Ends at Kilbourn Avenue.

  From the North:

  Start north of Milwaukee on I-43 heading south.  Take the Highland Avenue exit ramp (exit 72C).  Turn left onto Highland to 6th Street.  Turn right onto 6th Street.  Ends at Kilbourn Avenue.

  From the South:

  Start south of Milwaukee on I-94/I-43 heading north.  Take the Plankinton Avenue exit ramp (exit 73A).  Turn left onto Plankinton Avenue.  Turn left onto Kilbourn Avenue.  Ends at 6th Street.

• Traveling FROM the U.S. Cellular Arena:

  To the West:

  Start on 6th and Kilbourn.  Turn right onto 6th Street.  Turn left onto McKinley Street.  Turn left onto Southbound I-43.  Merge right to Westbound I-94.

  To the North:

  Start on 6th and Kilbourn.  On-ramp to Northbound I-43 is at intersection

  To the South:

  Start on 6th and Kilbourn.  Turn right onto 6th Street.  Turn left onto McKinley Street.  Turn left onto Southbound I-43.

• Highlights for the Week of May 12, 2008:
• Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 11th Street between Wisconsin and Tory Hill will be restricted to a single lane on the right side of the road and will only be accessible from the west.  This will be in effect for most of the week, while the Interchange contractor works in the easterly roadway.  Motorists are advised to be cautious when driving on this street, as construction equipment and activities will be present.  There may be some short delays, as the contractor maneuvers equipment 
• There are two freeway detours scheduled for commencement weekend that may affect commuters unfamiliar with local streets in the downtown Milwaukee area.  These two detours will be in effect from 11 p.m. on Friday, May 16, until 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 17.  Our Web site has new routes to both the Bradley Center and the U.S. Cellular Arena for this period.  The detours are due to the following: 
  • Northbound I-43/94 will be closed from south of the Marquette Interchange to just north of the Interchange.  Traffic on northbound I-43/94 will exit and be detoured  at Plankinton Avenue
  • The connector ramp from eastbound I-94/794 to northbound I-43 will be closed   Vehicles on eastbound I-94/794 wishing to connect with northbound I-43 will be detoured at the James Lovell exit. 

Local Street Highlights

• St Paul between 8th and 13th Street will be closed overnight on Thursday, May 15, from 3 to 5:30 a.m. for overhead work.
• Eastbound Michigan closed at 8th Street. 
  • The parking lot behind Straz Tower and the Rec-Plex is only accessible from the east. Detour left or south at 8th Street; right or west on McCauley to 9th Street; right or north on 9th Street, across Michigan Street. 
  • When exiting the parking lot, behind Straz Tower and the Rec-Plex, only left turn or eastbound travel is allowed

• Freeway and Ramp Highlights

• Southbound I-43 North of the Marquette Interchange will be detoured at ramp to west Monday, May 12, and Thursday, May 15, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
• Northbound I-43/94 South of the Marquette Interchange is detoured at Plankinton Friday, May 16, at 11 p.m. until Saturday, May 17, at 6 p.m.
• Eastbound I-94 Northbound I-43 will be closed at the Lovell off-ramp Wednesday, May 14, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Thursday, May 15, and from 8 p.m. Thursday, May 15, to 6 a.m. Friday, May 16, and from  11 p.m. Friday, May 16, to Saturday, May 17, at 6 p.m.

• Westbound I-94 28th St. on-ramp will be closed Tuesday, May 13, from 7:45 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14.
• Westbound I-94 25th St. off-ramp will be closed Tuesday, May 13, from 7:45 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14.
• Westbound 1-794 The Hoan Bridge to the Marquette Interchange will have a detour at the Milwaukee Street exit Monday, May 12, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Tuesday, May 13, from 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, to 6 a.m. Wednesday , May 14, and from 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 to 6 a.m. Thursday, May 15.
• Westbound I-794 Lincoln Memorial Drive on-ramp will be closed Monday, May 12, from 7:45 p.m. to 6 a.m., Tuesday, May 13, from 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, to 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, from 9:45 p.m.  Wednesday, May 14, to 6 a.m. Thursday, May 15.
• Westbound I-794 Jackson Street on-ramp will be closed Monday, May 12 from 7:45 p.m. to 6 a.m., Tuesday, May 13, from 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, to 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, and from 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, to 6 a.m. Thursday, May 15.
