Dr. Dennis E. Garrett is interim dean of the College of Business Administration and an associate professor of marketing at Marquette University. Prof. Garrett received his doctorate in marketing from the University of Illinois in 1985. Prior to joining the Marquette faculty in 1990, Prof. Garrett taught at the University of Oklahoma.
Garrett previously served as Interim Dean of the College of Business Administration at Marquette University in 1998-1999. In 2006 he received the Rev. John P. Raynor, S.J., Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence. He was also the inaugural recipient of Marquette University’s College of Business Administration Miles Teaching Fellowship in 2004.
Garrett's primary research interest is in the area of customer satisfaction. His research articles have appeared in a variety of business, marketing, and communication journals including Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Affairs, and Journal of Business Ethics. He is also a co-author of Marketing Theory: Evolution and Evaluation (John Wiley Publishers), which has been translated into Japanese and published in Japan.
Garrett currently serves on the board of directors of the Wisconsin Better Business Bureau and Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE). He is a past-president of the Wisconsin chapter of the Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals (SOCAP).
Garrett’s wife, Dr. Renee Meyers, is a professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. They have two daughters. Libby is a freshman at Indiana University and Molly is a sophomore at Cedarburg High School.
