
Edward F. Kosnik, Eng '66, was elected to the Marquette University Board of Trustees in 2006.
He is a private investor. He previously served as president and chief executive officer from 1999 to 2001 and as president and chief operating officer from 1997 to 1999 of Berwind Group, Inc., a private, diversified operating and investment company. From 1994 to 1997 he was senior executive vice president and chief financial officer at Alexander and Alexander, Inc., a global insurance broker and risk management company. He was chairman, president and chief executive officer of JWP, Inc., a global mechanical and electrical contractor and facility manager from 1992 to 1994, and president and chief executive officer of Sprague Technologies from 1987 to 1992. Previously he was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Penn Central and held various senior management positions at Arvida Corporation.
He was in the NROTC and earned a bachelor's degree from Marquette University in 1966, and in 1972 he earned a M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Following his graduation from Marquette, he served as an officer in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970.
Committed to education, he served as chairman of the board of The Brunswick School in Greenwich, Connecticut, and as a trustee of St. Peter's Prep in Jersey City, New Jersey. He currently serves on the board of SemGroup Energy Partners and is a consultant to a private equity group. He has also served on a number of public company boards of directors.
He received the College of Engineering Professional Achievement Award in 1992 and is a member of the Marquette University 1881 Society.
