Ulice Payne, Jr., Bus Ad ’78, Law ’82, was elected to the Marquette University Board of Trustees in 1998.
He is the president of Addison-Clifton, LLC, global trade compliance advisors. Payne is the former president and CEO of the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club.
Prior to joining the Milwaukee Brewers, he was managing partner of the Milwaukee office of the law firm of Foley & Lardner, LLP and also served as chair of the International Business Team.
He presently serves as a member of the boards of directors of Manpower, Inc., Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, Wisconsin Energy Corporation, Badger Meter Inc., National Board of Directors of the YMCA of the USA (chair-elect), Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee, Junior Achievement of Wisconsin Inc. and Bradley Center Sports and Entertainment Corporation (chair). He also served as the Wisconsin Commissioner of Securities from February 1985 to December 1987.
He is a member and past chair of the U.S. Department of Commerce — Wisconsin District Export Council, the past president of the Wisconsin World Trade Center, the past chair of the Customs Law Committee of the Section of International Law and Practice of the American Bar Association and the past-chair of the International Law Section of the Wisconsin Bar Association.
He is a former member of the Les Aspin Center for Government Board of Visitors and is a former member of the university’s Athletic Board. He has received the All-University Merit Award and the College of Business Administration Professional Achievement Award. Payne was a member of Marquette's 1977 NCAA championship basketball team.
He is a member of the Marquette University 1881 Society.
