Study in Madrid at the Universidad Pontifica Comillas

Founded in 1904, the Universidad Pontificia Comillas is located in Madrid, the political and cultural heart of Spain. As an institution, the university has achieved personal growth and built a professional future in an environment of respect and personalized attention. It is regarded as one of the best universities in Europe and has a rich tradition in the humanities and teaching, backed by the recognition of the business world and public sector. It has an international environment that attracts exchange students from Europe and the rest of the world.

Comillas has 7,700 undergraduates, 4,300 students in special or post-graduate study and more than 1,000 foreign students. Students find a friendly atmosphere in the classroom, cafeteria and athletic activities. Students’ university experiences will also be enhanced by contact with others from a variety of student associations and staff members who help organize cultural events and sport tournaments. Students can participate in competition groups, debate club, choir, theatre and expositions and take classes, or talleres, in photography, painting, guitar, etc.

The university has libraries with access to more than 500,000 volumes and 2,100 journals, a bookshop, a gymnasium, university pastoral services, a social work unit, and guidance services.

Fall term: late September to mid-January
Spring term: mid-February to early July

Eligibility

Business, economics and engineering majors only; minimum junior standing; strong Spanish language skills; three Spanish courses beyond SPAN 2002

Language

Courses are taught in Spanish.

Accounting, economics, finance, statistics, management, international trade, marketing, personnel, international business, ethics, theology, econometrics and philosophy

On average, students take five to six classes per semester, equaling about 15-18 credits.

Living

The university will provide assistance with housing.

Orientation

A general guidance session and reception take place at the end of September, shortly before the start of classes, and again in February for students studying during the second semester.
