Study abroad student from Marquette

SPAIN STUDY
ABROAD PROGRAMS

Program Overview

The University of Deusto is one of the most prestigious academic institutions in Spain, with campuses in Bilbao and San Sebastián and a tradition of academic excellence in teaching and research.

The university first opened in 1886, founded because Spain's Basque Country wanted its own university and the Jesuits wanted to move their School of Higher Studies in La Guardia (Pontevedra) to a more central place.

Since 1962, the number of students has grown from 500 to more than 16,000; the number of lecturers has risen to more than 600; the number of faculties has increased by seven; and postgraduate degrees (master's degrees and diploma courses) have been added.
