About Rome

Rome, the capital of Italy, is one of the most influential and important cities in history.  As the center of the Roman Empire, it became the symbol of European civilization by expanding its rich culture in all of its conquered territories.  It would continue influencing the world during the Renaissance period. Artists like Raphael, Michelangelo, and Bramante created pieces of work that continue to amaze the world with their beauty.  Their works can be appreciated today in various places in Rome, particularly at the Vatican Museum.

Today, Rome stands as a testimony that the old Europe can intertwine with the modern world. Along the sections of ancient walls and marble columns stand modern apartments and luxurious villas. Students can explore the past by visiting the Colosseum, the Pantheon, and the Roman Forum. They can view world-renowned art in various churches in the city, inside the Vatican Museum, and stand in the famous Sistine chapel.

The city of Rome is also wonderfully situated in the center of the country.  One can easily access major cities such as Naples and Milan by train. Smaller cities, such as Pisa, Venice, and Salerno must not be overlooked, however, and are just an easy train ride away.
