From its founding, Sophia University has been dedicated to student-centered education and research. The student body includes a diverse mixture of Japanese students and more than 500 foreign students from 54 countries. English courses on Japan and Asia in a wide variety of academic fields enrich foreign students' academic experiences. Additionally, students are required to take a Japanese language class while studying abroad.

Business, Economics, Japanese language, Philosophy, Political Science, History, Theology, Psychology, Sociology. Students are required to take a Japanese language class each semester.

Course and Credit Info:
Students usually take four classes per semester. The number of credits for these classes ranges from 12 to 16 credits. Summer students will take 6 credits.
Grading Scale:
Sophia University has a different scale than Marquette. Students will need to earn a grade of C (79%-70%) or above in order to transfer credits back to Marquette. Please note that students will only transfer the credits and not the grades from these classes.
