SUSTAINABILITY BY MARQUETTE PARTNERSThe University strives to promote business partnerships with vendors’ companies who support justice, promote protection of the environment, respect the dignity of the human person, and value employees and their communities. In order to adhere to these beliefs, we will often ask some basic questions to determine if a company is committed to these principles. We also like for companies to briefly comment on what their activities are so that together we will be able to understand each other’s values and move together towards a sustainable partnership. The University does not discriminate in any manner contrary to law or justice on the basis of race, color, sex, age, sexual orientation, religion, disability, veteran’s status or national origin. In fact, the university is committed to furthering partnerships with diverse businesses. We also ask about employee safety records, agreements to ensure satisfactory employment practices, and the recognition and implementation of a “living wage”. The University believes that every full-time worker has the right to be able to earn enough to cover his/her, as well as his/her family’s, basic rights to shelter, food, clothing, education, health care, and retirement. Lastly, we require vendors to verify that their company complies with all applicable federal and state employment laws as well as seek out those who go beyond what is required by law. Marquette’s continuing endeavor to become more sustainable has made an appreciation for the efforts of our partners. Below you will find a list of links directing you to our partner’s sustainability efforts.
