Col. Andrea Eigel Crunkhorn, PT '86

A distinguished military graduate of Marquette's ROTC program, Col. Andrea Crunkhorn was commissioned into the Army Medical Specialist Corps in 1986. Initially assigned as a staff physical therapist at the 97th General Hospital in Frankfurt, Germany, she later served as chief of physical therapy at several U.S. military bases and for the Multinational Force and Observers in El Gorah, Egypt. She also was executive assistant to the Assistant Surgeon General for Force Projection at the Pentagon.

Selected for command of U.S. Army Medical Activity at Camp Zama, Japan, Andrea later was named chief of the physical therapist section and assistant corps chief of the Army Medical Specialist Corps. She is commander of the Munson Army Health Center in Fort Leavenworth, Kan., where she introduced a covenant to provide "the highest quality of care and services possible" to soldiers, their families and veterans.

The covenant is "symbolic of the promise we've already made that we will take care of you, start to finish," she said at its signing.

In addition to Marquette, Andrea — who is married to Ross Crunkhorn and has two children — is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and U.S. Air Force Air War College. She has master's degrees in international relations (Boston University), physical therapy (University of Indianapolis), and national security and strategic studies (Air University).

Andrea earned the Expert Field Medical Badge and several awards and decorations, including the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters and Order of Military Medical Merit.
