Helene
Steinmill Fearon, pt '78
Helene Fearon graduated ready to make a difference, and she
has done just that.
A physical therapist for 28 years,
she and her husband Tim, also a physical therapist, run a private
practice in Phoenix. Helene is also an owner and president
of Physical Therapy Provider Network of Arizona, a physical therapist-owned
provider network, and a principal in Health Care Resources
Institute
Inc., a health care consulting firm.
Helene’s passion
for her profession as well as her Catholic upbringing has prompted
her to “give back to the profession and bring to others
the fire of enthusiasm for participation in all aspects of physical
therapy.”
This passion extends to her involvement
in the American Physical Therapy Association at both the state
and national levels. Helene has also received numerous recognitions
and awards from APTA.
Since 1992, Helene has worked tirelessly
to bridge the gap between the health care industry and the
physical therapy profession as a representative to the American
Medical
Association’s Current Procedural Terminology HealthCare
Professionals Advisory Committee.
Helene has also taken
on health care’s third party payment system, working to
improve payment policies for physical therapy services. In 2000,
she was appointed to the AMA’s CPT editorial panel, representing
all non-physicians. As a result of this appointment, she plans
to mentor other physical therapists interested advocating for
the profession.
