Krainz Nickasch
Dental Hy ‘71, ‘75, Grad ‘99
Carol Krainz Nickasch began her careerworking with children
before discovering the pleasures of working with the elderly.
She has spent the past 26 years as the dental hygienist at the
East Castle Retirement Home.
A key to Carol’s successis to always look beyond the obvious.
Following her mother’s formula — “if Plan A
doesn’t work, Plan B or C or D probably will” — Carol
believes in trying new ideas to find the best solutions to problems.
This flexibility is evident in the paths her own career has
taken. In addition to her work at East Castle, Carol is on the
dental hygiene faculty at Milwaukee Area Technical College, works
with Habitat for Humanity, serves on the Crossroads Interfaith
Board and is active in her church as a lector and Eucharistic
minister.
“Having a passion for what I do as a hygienist, Habitat
worker or teacher has allowed me to enjoy life and those individuals
whose paths I have been gifted to share,” she says.
Carol has just completed a certification program in pet massage
therapy, which she hopes to pursue as a new career during retirement.
Carol also believes that studying scripture and learning to live
the gospel message is a continuous and lifelong journey. She credits
her parents’ values and her Marquette education for starting
her on the way to becoming a professed secular Franciscan more
than 20 years ago.
