Raymond A. Eckstein, Law ’49
Kathryn A. Eckstein, Sp ’49
After establishing a law practice in Cassville, Wis., Ray founded Wisconsin Barge Lines in 1958, with a fleet of tugboats and barges carrying commodities to ports along the Mississippi River. Then in 1978 this river entrepreneur formed a new company, Marquette Transportation, a salute to his and Kay’s alma mater and Father Jacques Marquette. In an expression of gratitude to the university in 2007, Ray and Kay made a $51 million gift to the Law School with hopes that it inspires other alumni to do more for Marquette. Read more about the Ecksteins.
