Maureen Haggerty Warmuth, Arts ’79
 Maureen retired from Wisconsin Gas—We
Energies after 25 years of service. Currently vice president
and board member of Haggerty Enterprises, Maureen, a second-generation
Marquette graduate whose daughter now attends the university,
bleeds Blue & Gold. “I knew what opportunities Marquette
had given to a poor boy from Harvey, North Dakota—my dad,” she
says. “He attributed his success to Marquette, and I’m
the beneficiary of it.”
In addition to her work
with AMUW, Maureen serves on the board of Marquette’s
Helen Way Klingler College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Association.
She is highly regarded as a superb ambassador for Marquette.
Generous in spirit, known for her kind words, warm laugh and
big hugs, she personifies the values and traditions of a Jesuit
education.
A
fervent volunteer, Maureen has been active in several causes,
including Harbor House; Bridging the Gap; Tosa Food Pantry;
Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart Alumni Association; ABCD
(After Breast Cancer Detection); St. Pius X Parish Council; Divine
Savior Holy Angels President’s Cabinet; and the Historic Heights Neighborhood
Association. Maureen has also built houses with Jimmy Carter
for Habitat for Humanity.
For years, Maureen carried in
her wallet a clipping of a Reader’s Digest story about
an elderly woman who was a prolific volunteer. When asked why
she did this, the woman responded, “I want someone to miss
me when I am gone.” Maureen believes that’s what
people want most: to know they mattered.
