Eugene
O. Duffy, BUS

Few
alumni have a stronger affiliation with their alma mater than
Eugene O. Duffy, who earned his bachelor’s, master’s
and law degrees at Marquette and is an adjunct faculty member
in the Executive M.B.A. and M.B.A. programs in the Marquette
College of Business Administration.
After graduating from
Marquette Law School in 1978, Gene went on to earn a master’s
of law in taxation at John Marshall Law School in Chicago in 1983.
Today, a shareholder of O’Neil Cannon Hollman DeJong, SC,
in Milwaukee, he practices in the areas of federal and state
taxation, tax litigation and corporate law, including transactional
advice, representation in federal and state ruling and audit
matters, trial and appellate advocacy in suits involving federal
and state tax matters, and constitutional issues.
Gene
is a decorated combat veteran and recipient of the U.S. Navy
Law Education Program Scholarship. He served as a member of the
Judge Advocate General Corps of the U.S. Navy from 1978–82.
He was named Wisconsin Super Lawyer – Tax in 2005 and in
1995 was included in Milwaukee Magazine’s Best Lawyers
feature.
He credits Marquette’s rigorous academic
programs for his success and is grateful for the faculty who
instilled in students the values of integrity, hard work and
professionalism. In addition to his professional legal commitments,
Gene is an active member of the community who has served on the
boards of Divine Savior Holy Angels High School (1998-03), St.
John Vianney Catholic School (1984–87), St. John Vianney
Parish committees (1987-01), Sisters of Divine Savior Sponsorship
Corp. (2003–present), the Marquette University Alumni Association
(1999–03), and the Marquette University Law School Alumni
Board (1993–03), including a term as president.
