Michael
R. Neufeldt, COMM '00
Michael
Neufeldt says, "With a good attitude and a positive outlook,
you can accomplish anything you set your mind to." He should
know. For all his life, he has refused to let muscular dystrophy
hold him back.
Michael attended Marquette as a Burke Scholar,
a selective program for students who demonstrate excellence
in academics and a commitment to service. At Marquette, he earned
a major in broadcast television and a minor in marketing while
volunteering as a coordinator for the Marquette University
Community
Action Program and participating in MUTV.
Today, Michael
has just as much on his plate, working in interactive communications
at Harley-Davidson Motor Company. He’s also co-author of
Tales of the Marquette Hardwood, which he wrote with Tom Pipines
of WITI FOX 6. The book recounts the history of Marquette's basketball
program, featuring insights and stories gleaned from such greats
as Dwyane Wade, Hank Raymonds, Rick Majerus, Tom Crean, Glenn "Doc" Rivers
and Jim McIlvaine.
In 1987 and 1988, Michael served as
national goodwill ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Today, he continues to serve others as a member of MDA's
national task force on public awareness and as co-host of the
MDA Telethon
produced at WDJT-TV in Milwaukee.
