Steve
J. Nooyen,
BUS AD '88
Steve
Nooyen was looking to meld his business savvy with a desire to
serve his community. “I didn’t want there to be such
separation between what I did at work and that tug to give back
at the end of the work day,” he says.
So, in 1997,
Steve founded We Care Senior Care Inc., the northeast Wisconsin
franchise of Home Instead Senior Care, the world’s largest
provider of comprehensive non-medical home care services for
the elderly.
Steve’s company is the fifth largest
of more than 400 Home Instead franchise groups worldwide.
Says
Steve, “Marquette did a fantastic job of weaving a consistent
set of values into my educational experience.” The continued
importance of faith in his life is apparent. “A few years
ago,” he says, “I replaced myself at the top of our
organizational chart. Now you’ll find God’s name
there.”
Even as Steve integrates his personal values
with his professional aspirations, he also makes time to serve
on the boards of a number of charities in his community while
participating as a member of Marquette’s Golden Angels
Network. He even manages to squeeze in some fishing, too -- often with a group of local senior citizens.
