Young
Alumni Association hits its mark
The Young Alumni Association
in Milwaukee was recognized this spring as an
interest based chapter
at the board meeting of the Marquette University Alumni Association.
With a constituency of over 5,000, this group has been active
in creating interesting programs and events, thereby extending
the “Marquette experience” that keep alumni engaged with the university.
This past year has been
an active one for the group. They designed their events to appeal
to a variety of individuals and included a community service,
social, spiritual, recreational, or educational component in their
plans. Within the past year, the group has held a wine tasting
party, mass and brunch, a night at the opera, a ski trip, a baseball
game and tailgate party, and many more. The educational sessions
they planned included “how to buy your first house” and a financial
planning seminar. Their project for National Service Day
was the Ronald McDonald House, a relationship they plan to continue
in the years ahead.
They
have a big agenda for the future. Not only do they want
to strengthen the ties with the local alumni, but they want
to act as a resource to other chapters around the country
who would like assistance with young alumni programming.
They continue to plan innovative programs and events that
will appeal to and involve alumni. Upcoming events include
"Milwaukee
Braves Night" at Miller Park.
