Marquette University

August 2014

Dear Marquette alumni,

Dr. Michael R. LovellIn my short time as president of Marquette, I have quickly learned one thing: the alumni of this great institution are profoundly passionate and dedicated to their alma mater. What a gift.

I recently had the opportunity to spend a weekend with those of you who returned home to Marquette for Alumni Reunion Weekend. Throughout those days, I was greeted with warmth, enthusiasm and support, for which I am very grateful. I observed incredible bonds between classmates who have been separated by geography and the passage of time, yet who are forever connected by their Marquette experiences. I felt the deep affection that you feel for your alma mater, whether you graduated five or 50 years ago.

Our Alumni Reunion Weekend, and much of what we as Marquette accomplish, is made possible due to the efforts of dedicated alumni volunteers. I am impressed by the multitude of ways that you are engaged, from professional development and mentoring to student outreach and alumni club events. So I want to take this opportunity to say a sincere "thank you" to all of our volunteers around the world. Your service to Marquette, whatever form it takes, makes a difference to the vitality of our campus and in the lives of our students.

For those of you already engaged, I encourage you to remain involved with Marquette. If you haven’t been involved in a while, please consider reconnecting. Marquette offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities that enable you to have meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of others.

It is an exciting time at Marquette, and I am honored to be in a position to lead us forward.

We Are Marquette!

Sincerely,

Michael R. Lovell
President
