Opus Prize Awarded to Organization
Furthering Literacy in India

The $1 million Opus Prize, an international humanitarian award given to people or organizations that are committed to changing deeply rooted world problems, was awarded at Marquette University to Reach Education Action Programme (REAP), of Mumbai, India, which seeks to empower the underprivileged through literacy for a new world of freedom, justice, dignity and self-respect.

Founder, Rev. Trevor Miranda, S.J., pictured right, accepted the award during a ceremony in the Alumni Memorial Union.


Martha Binn Holmen Doctor Lends Hand
in Former Soviet Union

Marquette alumna Dr. Martha Binn, Arts '97, traveled to the former Soviet Union to give much-needed instruction, care and supplies to a clinic in Ozurgeti, Georgia. Her story was featured in the Holmen Courier on Oct. 21, 2005.
