Men's basketball announces 2007-08 schedule

A record number of television appearances and the possibility of matchups with 12 postseason participants from last year highlight another exciting schedule for the Marquette University men's basketball team in 2007-08.

The newly signed television contract between the BIG EAST and ESPN, Inc., is the best in college basketball and as a result Marquette will have a record number of its games broadcast on a national level (at least 11 total). Read more

Making the grade
It’s the season of rankings. Marquette recently ranked 48th in the nation in Washington Monthly’s annual college guide, 82nd in the 2008 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s America's Best Colleges, and was among the 15 percent of four-year schools recognized in The Princeton Review’s 2008 edition of the “Best 366 Colleges.”

  • Law School receives $30 million
    Milwaukee philanthropist and real estate developer Joseph J. Zilber, Law ’41, recently
    donated $30 million to his alma mater, to be used toward construction of a new law
    building and student scholarships. The gift to Marquette was part of $50 million that Zilber
    pledged toward charities, organizations and institutions in Milwaukee. Read more

    2,000 Marquette freshmen, with boxes in hand and parents in tow, moved into their new

    Marquette’s Les Aspin Center for Government gave this year’s Democracy Award to U.S.
    Rep. David Obey, the longest-serving member of either chamber of Congress in

  Marquette starts Center for Peacemaking


Marquette establishes Center for Peacemaking Through a $500,000 four-year grant from the Sally and Terry Rynne Foundation, Marquette University has established a Center for Peacemaking. Directed by Rev. G. Simon Harak, S.J., the center will support research on the effectiveness of initiatives to prevent violent conflicts and to reconcile communities in the wake of violence. Initial activities of the center are planned for this fall, including a workshop on nonviolence for Marquette students participating in service learning, a research forum and a spirituality of nonviolence retreat.  Read more
