April reflection: Celebrate your Marquette experience
During the Easter season Christians often hear Jesus say, "The end is near." But because of our understanding of Easter we know it is not really an end, but it is a beginning. We can say the same thing here at Marquette. It is not simply the end of an academic year. It is a new beginning in terms of careers, relationships, experiences, life.
Between studying for exams and finishing papers, students will find time for goodbyes, perhaps for the summer, possibly for a lot longer. And it is a time to give thanks, whether you are graduating this year or you graduated years ago.
We can take this opportunity to thank God for our Marquette education. We give thanks for the friends we have made and the experiences we have had. We give thanks for all those people who helped make our Marquette experience possible: Parents, family and friends who may have helped us pay for our education; Marquette alumni and benefactors who have contributed to scholarships and provided facilities on campus.
Later this month we will celebrate Alumni National Awards Weekend when we will acknowledge some often ordinary Marquette alumni who have done some very extraordinary things. It is appropriate that we recognize these fine individuals as we celebrate the new life and breath of spring and this beautiful Easter season.
