Margaret Brueggen, Bus Ad '12 (left), received the Ursuline Academy St. Louis Young Alumna Serviam Award for her service through the Marquette MARDI GRAS organization and other service efforts while studying at Marquette. Our world today can present us with many reasons to lose hope with opportunities, attractions, and distractions that make it easy to lose sight of the true meaning of the Christmas season. But in fact, this is the Season of Hope, whether from the lights of the Christmas tree, the glow of the Advent Wreath candles, the flame of the Menorah, or perhaps simply the sky on a rare day of sunshine in a Milwaukee December. All of these can remind us of the presence of God and the promise of hope that is fulfilled in this holy season. Read the entire blessing.

Alumni organizing Superstorm Sandy student service trip
A non-profit co-founded by two Marquette alumni is organizing Superstorm Sandy student service trips in 2013. Next Step Ministries was established by Marquette alumni Nick Cocalis, Comm '07, and Andy Atwell, Law '09, and based in Madison, Wis. The alumni were also featured in the Fall 2012 edition of Marquette Magazine.
