Discovery Learning Complex

Get a peek at the new College of Engineering facility, the Discovery Learning Complex, as it rises on the south side of Wisconsin Avenue between 16th and 17th streets.

Our first phase of construction is underway, but we will still need your help to complete the full $100 million structure. View the progress live on the Engineering webcam.

Check back often – the DLC will be fully enclosed by Thanksgiving 2010.

Rhaoul A. Guillaume, Sr., P.E., F. ASCE, Eng ’71, president of GOTECH, was elected chairman of the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Established in 1981, GOTECH is a consulting engineering firm headquartered in Baton Rouge, La.

Michael Joseph TroiaErin Crotty Troia, Comm ’98, and John Troia are thrilled to announce the arrival of their son, Michael Joseph, on July 5. He weighed 8 pounds, 13 ounces and was 21 inches long.

Jessica (Keber) Lelinski, H Sci '06 Jessica (Keber) Lelinski, H Sci ’06, received a doctor of medicine degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in May 2010. Following graduation, she will begin a pathology residency at MCW.

New leadership team for Klingler College of Arts and Sciences

Rev. Philip J. Rossi, S.J., professor of theology, was recently named interim dean of the Helen Way Klingler College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Belén Castañeda, associate professor of Spanish, and Dr. William Donaldson, professor of chemistry, will serve as associate deans for the college.

Ready for basketball season?

The BIG EAST schedule is out, and season tickets went on sale earlier this week. In other basketball news, former Marquette standout Lazar Hayward was selected in the first round of the NBA’s 2010 draft.

Welcome, new MUAA board

The Marquette University Alumni Association National Board of Directors welcomes new members Gary Bettin, Bus Ad ’76; Sandy Casper, Nurs ’71, Dent ’86; Andrew Hunn, Bus Ad ’04; Francie Reding, Arts ’92; Rondell Sheridan, Sp ’80; and student representative Shazia Ali, H Sci ’11. Valerie Wilson Reed, Sp ’79, is the 2010-11 board president, succeeding Charles Bell, Arts ’62.
