Attractions
The Pabst Mansion, located on the edge of the Marquette campus at 2000 W. Wisconsin Ave., is a testament to Capt. Frederick Pabst’s German heritage, love of life and success as a beer baron (among his many accomplishments). Boasting stunning interiors, elegant original furnishings, elaborate wall coverings, the finest wood craftsmanship, intricate ironwork, brilliant stained glass and rare art, the mansion helped make the 1890s the “Pabst Decade” in Milwaukee. Open Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. Admission: adults, $8; seniors/students, $7; children ages 6-17, $4; under 6, free. The Patrick and Beatrice Haggerty Museum of Art opened in 1984 on the Marquette University campus as a project of the Marquette University Women’s Council.The museum, which has won awards for its architectural design, includes four main galleries and houses a permanent collection of more than 8,000 works of art.Its permanent collection includes European and American contemporary art and Old Master paintings, as well as photography, works on paper and small collections of African and Asian art.The Haggerty Museum has become an integral part of Marquette’s educational experience and the Milwaukee community, and has received national and international recognition.
