A new smart classroom security policy (UPP 1-19) is now in effect. This policy will afford much greater security for our smart classrooms while making reserved access to them more efficient.
It must be noted that with the introduction of UPP 1-19, Public Safety is NOT responsible for opening card-swipe access smart classrooms for reserved events. This means that a designated official "Responsible Party" for reserved events will use his/her MU ID card to gain access to card-swipe accessible smart classrooms for each date scheduled.
1. The initial reservation process for requesting academic space will not change. To secure academic space(s), please contact the Event Management Office at 288-7202, submit an on-line space request form: http://www.marquette.edu/amu/classroom/, send a fax space request to 288-1986, or stop in the office, AMU Room 245 to speak with an Event Management Office Assistant.
2. Reservations are subject to space, room and equipment availability. Room assignments may be subject to change, and at the discretion of the Events Management Office. The responsible party will be notified of any scheduling changes, prior to the date of the reservation.
3. The process described below does not apply to all academic spaces; only Smart Academic Classrooms.
4. A complete list of Academic Smart Rooms is available in the Events Management Office, AMU Room 245, or by dialing 288-7202, or email annette.conrad@mu.edu.
CARD-SWIPE ACADEMIC SMART CLASSROOMS
If the designated room for your event is the preferred location, or assigned based on availability, and it is a Card Swipe SMART CLASSROOM, the requester will be required to identify the "Responsible Party" (the individual for opening and securing the room on behalf of the sponsoring organization) and acknowledge the Smart Classroom Security Agreement detailed in the email space confirmation sent to the responsible party following room assignment(s).
Once the Smart Classroom Agreement is acknowledged via email, to the Event Management Office, the responsible party will be given temporary card access to the assigned classroom requiring card swipe entry via their university ID card. On the day of your event, use your MU ID card to gain entry into your assigned classroom. Please bring along a photo ID and a copy of the room reservation confirmation, in the rare case when the MU ID does not successfully open the assigned smart room.
KEY ACCESS ACADEMIC SMART CLASSROOMS
If the designated room for your event is the preferred location, or assigned based on availability, and it is a Key Access SMART CLASSROOM, the requester will be required to identify the "Responsible Party" (the individual responsible for opening and securing the assigned classroom, on behalf of the sponsoring organization) and acknowledge the Smart Classroom Security Agreement detailed in the email space confirmation sent to the responsible party following room assignment(s).
On the day of your event, please meet the Department of Public Safety officer at the assigned room with a photo ID and a copy of the room reservation confirmation. The DPS officer will secure the classroom at the scheduled end time of the event.
