A place for everyone - the Brooks Lounge
Some people might call it the union's best kept secret. Others might refer to it as a great place to study or blow off steam. Regardless of what you call it, the Brooks Lounge has been gaining popularity with students as a preferred hang out space in the Alumni Memorial Union.
Located on the first floor of the AMU, the Brooks Lounge provides students with a place to study, play pool and get snack foods like popcorn and nachos. Over the summer of 2009, several electrical outlets were added to encourage students looking for new study locations to use the Brooks booths and an increase in usage was noticed right away in September.
The Brooks Lounge is also the main handler for distributing ticket sales to campus events such as the April 20 MUSG sponsored Girl Talk performance where the Brooks Lounge sold out the 1,000 tickets allotted for the event in just 4 hours.
Look for the following Brooks Lounge upcoming events:
- 9-Ball Billiards Tournament Thursday, April 15 at 7 p.m. Free to participate.
- Free Billiards & Popcorn Friday, April 23 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m
Stop in and check out the Brooks Lounge for yourself. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and Saturday to Sunday 2 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
