The University Information Center, located on the 2nd floor of the AMU, provides daily assistance to guests of the Alumni Memorial Union and Marquette University. With a staff of nearly 30 students and 1 full time adminstrator, the University Information Center is often used by students, university employees and visitors to provide direction for events on campus or to answer a wide range of questions about activites and services at Marquette.
The staff not only helps out people who walk up to the desk with questions, but they also are the people who answer the university's main phone number and direct callers accordingly. The University Information Center also handles the lost and found for misplaced items in the AMU and they distribute promotional material for events taking place in the greater Milwaukee area.
When the building of Zilber Hall was completed in the fall of 2009, the University Information Center staff took on the additional responsibility of staffing the welcome desk in that building. Over the course of the 2009-2010 school year, the staff greeted over 170,000 guests at Zilber Hall and helped them to find offices that had moved there.
