The AMU Embraces and Introduces Sustainability Efforts
As Marquette University strives to bring positive change to campus through sustainability efforts, the Alumni Memorial Union also recognizes the opportunity to make an impact on the carbon footprint left behind by guests and employees of the building. Over the last year and a half, the AMU has worked with the University's Sustainability Task Force to identify potential improvements to generate change within the student union.
The AMU has moved forward with several exciting initiatives in the fall of 2009 including:
- Installation of a new recycling-specific trash compactor that will make single stream recycling easier.
- Introduction of an awareness campaign that includes signage on recycling receptacles highlighting what items are now able to be recycled.
- The development of an AMU Sustainability Team who meet bi-monthly to review current processes and seek out new sustainability opportunities to incorporate in the building.
The Alumni Memorial Union supports the efforts of Marquette University in leading our community in a more sustainable direction. As a main part of campus life at Marquette, the AMU will continue to pursue and encourage aspects that will help the progression of sustainability on campus.
