Sodexo Dining Services Hosts Helping Hands Across America November 12

Sodexo Dining Services is encouraging the Marquette community to help stop hunger by donating canned and non-perishable food items for the national food drive Helping Hands Across America on Thursday, November 12. Donated items can be dropped off in the Alumni Memorial Union's second floor lobby any time 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The ultimate goal of the event is to set the Guinness World Record for the largest food drive and amount collected in a 24-hour period.

All donated items will be given to Marquette University's Campus Kitchens and Milwaukee's Second Harvest food bank. While any canned or non-perishable food donation is welcome, both services have priority items that are being highly suggested for the drive. Campus Kitchens is looking for donations of canned green beans, French's dried onion, canned pumpkin, mashed potato flakes, canned cranberries, stuffing mix and cream of mushroom soup for their upcoming Turkeypalooza event. Second Harvest would prefer canned meat, beef stew, tuna, canned chili, peanut butter and canned or dried beans.

Members of the Marquette community can also support the event by purchasing a "helping hand" in university retail and residential dining areas Monday, November 2 to Wednesday, November 11. A portion of the money raised will be used to purchase turkey gift certificates for Campus Kitchen's Turkeypalooza. Remaining money will be used to purchase canned and non-perishable items to add to the food drive on November 12.
