On Thursday, November 12 Marquette's Sodexo Dining Services took part in a nationwide food drive in an effort to help stop hunger. On campus, the drive encouraged the Marquette University community to bring in canned and non-perishable food items that would be donated to Marquette's Campus Kitchens program and the Milwaukee Second Harvest food bank.
Over the 12-hour drive, Sodexo's Marquette Helping Hands Across America event was able to collect an impressive 1,701 lbs of food. A portion of that food total came from the sale of "Helping Hands" in retail and resident dining locations and cash donations that purchased food items and turkeys for Campus Kitchen's Turkeypalooza.
A special thank you to members of the Milwaukee Wave who came to support the event, as well as Marquette Radio for doing a live broadcast from the drive and Henry Thomas, MUSG president and Stephanie Stopka, MUSG vice president for helping to verify the drive.
