Dr. Angela Sorby
Department of English
Dr. Sorby's favorite place in Wisconsin is the Kohler Art Museum, which specializes in
self-taught and "outsider" art. She is a scholar and poet who believes that everyone, no matter their profession, can and should engage creatively with the world. She has three school-age children, the youngest of whom was adopted from China, and last year the whole family spent a semester in China on a Fulbright fellowship. Dr. Sorby's books include a literary history of reading and recitation in America, two poetry collections, and a forthcoming anthology of nineteenth-century children's poetry titled Over the River and Through the Woods.
