The Les Aspin Democracy Award is presented to an individual whose actions have epitomized the mission of the Les Aspin Center for Government. The recipients have demonstrated a commitment to democratic values and rigorous, analytical problem solving, and have exemplified lives of public service. Thus, the award not only recognizes the accomplishments of its recipient, but it also honors its namesake, Les Aspin, and the manner in which he approached policy questions.
