The Les Aspin Center offers a variety of internship
and fellows opportunities for our students.
Congressman Jerry Kleczka Internship Program
The Congressman Jerry Kleczka Internship Program allows financially
needy students to participate in internships at the state and local level
of government. By working in such places as the Milwaukee Common Council,
Mayor’s Office, County Board of Supervisors, and other state and
local governmental institutions, students gain valuable professional
experience and insight into the workings of government.
The Pittsburgh Foundation's James G. Fulton Fellows Program
& J. Steele Gow Political Fellows Program
The James G. Fulton Fellows Program was established in 1972 as a living
memorial to the late Western Pennsylvania Congressman who, over a 27-year
period, trained more than 100 students in his office and taught them
first-hand about the challenges and rewards of public life. The J. Steele
Gow Political Fellows Program was established in 1965 in memory of the
late J. Steele Gow. Mr. Gow was the executive director of the Maurice
and Laura Falk Foundation from its beginning in 1929 until its termination
in 1965. The Foundation was a pioneer in support of economic research,
political science education, aided in the development and publication
of more than 75 books in these fields, and developed political internships
at 25 colleges and universities.
