Fall semester 1st year 

BIOL 6011 (3 cr.)

BIOL 6096 #1 (1 cr.) 

= 6 credits   

 

Spring semester 1st year

BIOL 6012 (3 cr.)

1“elective” course (2 cr.)

BIOL 6096 #2 &#3 (2x 1 cr. each)

0-1 seminar course (0-1 cr.)

= 7-8 credits

Fall semester 2nd year 

2 “elective” courses (2 cr. each)

BIOL 6097 (1 cr.) 

BIOL 6005 (1 cr.) 

 = 6 credits  

 

Spring semester 2nd year

Qualifier Exam: expected to be taken by May 15th

= 3 credits

Fall semester 3rd year   

Dissertation credits (6 cr.)

4th & 5th years

A minimum of 2 seminar courses taken after the completion of the qualifying exam (to a total of 5 seminar credits).

 

Curriculum requires a total of 24 course credits minimum: 7 “elective” courses (at a minimum of 2-credits each and not including BIOL 6001); 5 seminar courses (includes the BIOL6005 course to be taken in fall of 2nd year); and 5 research credits; + 12 Dissertation Research Credits (start taking in semester following completion of PhD qualifier exam)
