- As of August 31, 1999, the Blum Center is
closed.
Dr. Quade had already begun the process of closing of the Center by the time he died this past January. The Blum Center was only meant to exist as long as it took to accomplish its goals. The Center has well accomplished its original goals. In addition, Dr. Quade had reached the age of retirement, which made the decision to close even less arbitrary.
After Dr. Quade died, I assessed that there was still work to do, so I made an attempt to reverse the momentum and keep the Center open — ideally for at least five more years. Because the Blum Center had sufficiently accomplished its original goals, our funding sources agreed that it was especially appropriate to put this particular piece of work to rest. We hate to say goodbye, but it is satisfying to know that we have exceeded our goals. Political momentum in favor of school choice is well underway across the nation.
Thank you to all who have supported our work. All the best to those who are still "in the trenches." I hope at least to maintain this website to act as an aid to those who are yet in need of Blum Center materials.
I do not currently have the time to edit our website pages to remove our address and phone number. Please know that they no longer apply. Meanwhile, I hope the materials are still useful.
