- The Blum Center is a non-profit clearing house dedicated to the issue of school choice and parental freedom in education.
- Dr. Quentin L. Quade opened the Blum Center in 1992. Its purpose is to collect, organize, synthesize and distribute information regarding school choice efforts across the country.
- The Blum Center is dedicated to Father Virgil C. Blum, S.J. (1913-1990). Father Blum was a pioneer in seeking parental choice in educational financing. He worked tirelessly on the issue for over three decades, founded Citizens for Educational Freedom and the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, and was a remarkable and greatly respected professor at both Creighton University and Marquette University, where he retired as Professor Emeritus in Political Science.
- The Blum Center operates according to the principle that parents, who know and love their children, deserve the right to direct the education of their children. The prevalent method of financing education currently upheld in our nation by each of the fifty states denies parents the basic right of parental freedom in education without financial penalty. The prevalent method supports an education finance monopoly (EFM). The political alternatives to EFM being proposed by school choice advocates across the country include private school voucher and tax credit proposals.
