Marquette University offers students many opportunities to study off-campus. A student planning to spend a semester or year at one of the study abroad programs should note the following general information regarding billing and payment of charges: If financial aid will exceed the Bursar charges and a refund check is expected, it is important that you contact Cheryl Fax at the Bursar's Office to make arrangements for receiving these funds. It is important to know whom to make the check payable to and where it is to be sent. Additionally, if the student expects to receive alternative loan checks while abroad, a power of attorney form must be completed and on file with the Office of the Bursar. This form grants permission for a third party to sign the check in the event that it does not arrive before the student departs the United States. If alternative loan proceeds will exceed the Bursar charges and a refund check is expected, indicate on the power of attorney form to whom the refund check should be payable and where it should be sent. Blank power of attorney forms are available in the Office of the Bursar. They may also be obtained from office supply stores. All signatures on the forms must be notarized. A notary is available in the Office of the Bursar for your convenience. Any questions or concerns regarding the student's Bursar account or refund check may be directed to Cheryl Fax by calling (414) 288-7157 or via email.
