Succeeding in today’s complex, competitive global environment requires you to be prepared to add value to your organization on day one. Our innovative applied learning programs will help you to gain experiences that complement your academic coursework and challenge you to apply what you are learning. Every Marquette business student has the opportunity to take advantage of an applied learning experience. We encourage students to both explore what is currently offered and also to suggest new applied learning experiences to academic departments, centers, and student organizations.

ENTP 4020 – CONSULTING TO ENTREPRENEURS

This course offers students hands-on experience in actual consulting engagements and the operation of consulting practices. Many of the students' clients are central city and minority business professionals, or organizations that work to serve the central city.

MANA 3002 – BUSINESS AND ITS ENVIRONMENT

This course offers students the opportunity to become directly involved with the marketing and management of local nonprofit organizations. Previously, students worked with the Marquette Campus Kitchen project, an organization which partners with students, faculty, staff and volunteers with community organizations to provide healthy meals to social service agencies that serve low income seniors, children, and families in Milwaukee. Students were involved in an Employee Wellness Project.

INTE 3001 – INTRODUCTION TO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

In this introductory class, students work with local organizations in a semester long project to design and implement database systems. The students act as consultants and use real-world problem solving techniques while participating organizations receive a completed database system that helps them streamline their daily operations

Recent projects include: Guest House, Midtown Neighborhood Association, Literacy Services, Social Development Commission, Trinity Fellows, Milwaukee Mentors, Pregnancy Help Center, March of Dimes, Spotted Eagle High School, Core El Centro, Marquette Education Opportunity Program, Midnight Run, Milwaukee Mentors, Aurora Rape Crisis Center, Oakton Manor, Walker Point, Living Hope Christian Counseling, Summit Education, Meta House, City of Brookfield Planning, and World Trade Center Wisconsin.

INTE 3053 – PROJECT MANAGEMENT

This fall, students in this project management course collaborated with other students in Glasgow, Scotland, to design and market toys for children with disabilities.

During the spring semester, students are working on a renewable energy project with Glasgow students on a pico-scale for powering homes and small businesses/schools. Student teams jointly develop the concept, design, and marketing strategy for this product.
