TGA/FTIR Studies of Degradation

Thermogravimetric analysis provides information on the mass which is lost as a polymer degrades, if this is coupled to an infrared spectrometer, one can identify the species which evolve and produce a clear picture of the course of the degradation.

We have applied this technique to the degradation of almost every polymer which we have studied, including:

• Acrylates
• Methacrylates
• Styrenics
• Polybutadiene
• Polyisoprene
• Polychloroprene
• Polyacrylonitrile, etc.
