Biography
Anthony Sommese received his Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from
Sheldon Cremer in 1989. After a 1 year post-doc with Louis Quin at the
University of Massachusetts-Amherst, he joined Nalco Chemical Company as a Senior Chemist in the Corporate Research Department. Time spent in this department was invaluable in learning the chemistry of water treatment. In 1994 he was promoted to Senior Research Chemist and transferred to Applications Research, which entailed more customer and sales interaction and less basic lab work. He was promoted to Staff Scientist in 1998, then Research Scientist in 2000. Tony has been awarded 16 U.S. Patents with 5 pending. He was awarded Nalco's highest honor, The Chairmens Award for Technical Acheivement, in 2000. He is presently a Group Leader in Applied Process & Food Research.
