SAACS
The department has an active chapter of the Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society, SAACS. The chapter has bimonthly meetings, at some of meetings guests from amongst the faculty or from outside the University will speak on either chemical topics, careers, or related topics. SAACS organizes a quite popular chemical demonstration presentation each year for 'Little Sibs' weekend, participates in the Hunger Cleanup, organizes a bake sale within the chemistry building, etc. Within the past five years, the chapter has been recognized once with an honorable mention and once with an award from the American Chemical Society for outstanding achievement. Undergraduates from the first year through the last year are involved in the organization. The officers consist of the president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer. The advisor to SAACS is Scott Reid.

Biochemistry Majors Association
This group sometimes meets with SAACS and sometimes meets on their own. It is the group of biochemistry majors that provides advice and counsel to the faculty.

Undergraduate Student Advisory Board
This is a new group within the department, designed to provide advice to the department on curricular matters. For instance, each year we have supplementary handouts for a number of the laboratory experiments and this group will review these to be sure that we are providing the best advice. There may be some overlap between the membership of this group and of SAACS but it is not necessary to be a member of SAACS to serve on the advisory board. The advisor to this group is Vaughn Ausman.

Graduate Student Association
The graduate student association provides advice on all matters that are important to graduate students, including the curriculum, the facilities available within the building for students, the role of teaching and research assistants, ideas for seminars, such as career planning, that may be helpful, etc. In addition, they organize a fall and a spring picnic as well as a holiday party. The membership of this group is by self-selection. The advisor is Jeanne Hossenlopp.
