Dr. Sandra Hunter, assistant professor of exercise science, has received the $50,000 Judith A. Stitt Woman Faculty Scholar award from the Wisconsin Women's Health Foundation to examine the mind/body link for sex differences in stress reactions. She will use magnetic resonance imaging to examine differences in brain activation between men and women while they are mentally stressed performing a fatiguing motor task. It is the first step in identifying targeted strategies to improve the stress response of women and minimize impaired motor performance, according to Dr. Hunter.
