The participants of the CHS Biomedical Sciences Summer Research Program once again had a great research experience this summer. With 52 applicants, 22 students were accepted and worked in the laboratories of twelve different faculty mentors throughout the summer on a wide range of research projects. In addition, they went on a picnic to Drs. Park, went to a tailgating party and Brewers Game and were guests at the Nagawicki Yacht club where several learned to wind surf thanks to Chris Acker's expert instruction.
The Program finished on August 4th with a juried poster presentation at the Atrium in Cudahy Hall with Dr. Madeline Wake, Provost presenting the keynote address. With topics like Chronic Varial Stress Modulate Glutamate Signaling: A Link between Stress and Addiction and Abnormal Modulation of Soleus h-Reflexes During Post-Stroke Locomotion, it was difficult for our judges to determine the best posters. But finally they did decide. First Place went to Kaitlin Lamb, Second Place to Audrey Lewis, Third Place to Kathy Cebe Ondisko, and Fourth Place to Mona Ranada. Thanks for everyone for their continuing support and congratulations to all the participants.
