The success of the CHS Biomedical Sciences Summer Research Program continued in 2005. More than 60 students applied to the Program. Twenty students were accepted and worked in the laboratories of eleven faculty mentors in the Departments of Biomedical Sciences and Physical Therapy in the College of Health Sciences. Program activities included a lunchtime seminar series, participation in a human brain dissection mini-course, a picnic at Muskego Park, and tailgate party followed by attendance of a Milwaukee Brewers baseball game.
The Program finished on August 5th with a formal poster presentation session in the Union Ballroom during which students presented their research findings to an audience consisting of Marquette University students, faculty, administrators, and staff. The session included an address by Dr. Jack Brooks, Dean of the College of Health Sciences and a keynote speech by Dr. William Weiner, Vice Provost for Research and Dean of the Graduate School at Marquette University. Poster presentation awardees (pictured below) were Peachy-Mae Piana (first place), Jessica Keber (second place), and John DiCapo (third place).
