Sheena Carey

Internship Director/Lecturer, Diederich College (Milwaukee, WI)

I came to Marquette as a fresh-faced physical therapy major. One chemistry class and a gross anatomy lab tour quickly disabused me of any notions of a PT career. I took stock of the situation, my skills and interests and looked for a field that matched my loves of reading, writing and talking – and offered gainful employment options. Hello journalism! I have no regrets. The skills I developed in my writing and reporting classes have led to opportunities in the public, private and non-profit sectors, as well as entrepreneurially. I especially appreciated meeting and learning from Profs. Clifford Helbert, Alfred Lorenz and George Reedy. The study of journalism put my life back on track.
