Rory Gillespie

Communications Director, Wisconsin Province, Society of Jesus (Wauwatosa, WI)

My Marquette journey began in 1974 and followed the rivers from Pittsburgh. This journey gave me vision and voice through my work and studies at the College of Journalism. It gave me pride and substance through a (men’s basketball) championship in 1977 and a degree in 1978. It has transported me from the Beloit Daily News to the alleys in Reno, the steps of the Taj Mahal, the shores of Cuba and more. Most importantly, Marquette introduced me to a doe-eyed freshman gal hanging out in a dark corner of “Grunts” bar. She still likes to do the bugaloo, despite our 35-year marriage, four sons and grandson. Numen Flumenque!
