I had not spent a long time at Marquette before I wanted to change my major. I was worried that journalism would stifle my voice and prevent me from telling stories in unique and creative ways. Fortunately, one of my communication professors directed me toward Paul Salsini, who teaches a narrative nonfiction reporting class. That class in particular showed me that journalists can be both objective and passionate, honest and imaginative. My Marquette education encouraged me to explore and engage with the number of ways and variety of ever-changing mediums in which a story can be told.
