Jeannie Hayes

News Producer, Reporter, Anchor, WREX-TV (Rockford, IL)

I came to Marquette to become a journalist, but left with so much more. What I learned was how to meet people, bring their stories to life and work as part of a team. I was very involved in MUTV. It was the most valuable thing I could have done. Classroom work is great, but learning to actually do the job in a real working environment was crucial. I really believe its what gave me a jump-start into TV, which can be a really tough business to break into. Yes, those four years at MU were worth a lifetime and I hope to someday pass on those lessons.
